Steak night at Weatherspoon's was cancelled as suppliers let the pub chain down.
A notice attributed the absence of steak to
'Supplier Failure' saying the Aberdeen
Angus rump steak, Sirloin steak and gammon would be unavailable for the
evening.
The alternatives given where as follows:
- Chicken replaced Steak in the mixed grill
- Alternatves on the steak menu includes Pork Ribs and Quinoa salad
The supplier notice read:
"Due to a supplier failure, the following
meals are unavailable:
- 8oz and 14oz Aberdeen Angus Rump Steak
- 8oz Serloin Steak
- 5oz and 10oz Gammon
We are still able to offer our Mixed Grill meals,
but they will be served with grilled chicken breast instead of the 14oz
Aberdeen Angus Rump Steak.
We are also unable to offer the following meals on
our steak night:
BBQ chicken melt
- Chicken & Rib combo
- BBQ Pork Ribs
- Quinoa Salad with Grilled Halloumi
We apologise for any inconvenience this may
cause."
It was brought to everyone’s attention on twitter
by Ian Heath who spotted the sign and uploaded it to twitter.
The
Sun hilariously reported it as Apocalypse Cow, saying that, “WETHERSPOONS yesterday suddenly pulled steak from its 900
pubs - leaving fans of its Tuesday Steak Club reeling.
Managers reacted quickly to a memo from HQ - and
some customers even had the special Steak Club menus taken away from them as
they got ready to order at lunchtime.
